Course Descriptions:
Opening Game Lesson
The first stage of chess in which students will be taught opening traps, theories and guidelines to have a decent start to carry on to the middle game. This is important to build foundation of a solid chess game. Also a social play to put the fresh ideas into action. Time control would vary depending on the lesson of the day.
Middle Game Lesson
Second stage of chess in which students will be taught different tactical combinations in the different dynamics of the game. Positional strategies that will lead to a good structure going to the endgame. Also a social play to put the fresh ideas into action. Time control would vary depending on the lesson of the day.
Endgame Lesson
Third or last stage of chess in which students will be taught on how to calculate and evaluate to have a good finish of the game, either a win or a draw! Alot of calculation and visualization will be required in end game. Also a social play to put the fresh ideas into action. Time control would vary depending on the lesson of the day.
Warm Up Tactical Drills
A good way to start and gain back the student’s focus/ chess mood after lunch time. Doing tactics as a group, and everyone will be asked to explain their ideas and planning.  Split discussion in small team, and explain their plans and ideas.
USCF Online Rated Tournament
As a way of gauging and helping our students in their chess improvements, we include rated tournaments as part of their summer camp curriculum!  Active USCF Membership required - Entry fee included for camp students.
Famous Game Analysis
Explain and walk through famous games of the past! Learning from the classical of the famous chess Grand Masters, particularly the ex-world / current champions. Define and explain the reasoning behind each critical move.  Split the group into teams for social play team battle challenge.
Tournament Game Analysis
Study and analyze the tournament games of our students to learn from their mistakes, and know what could be done better. Even a won game has a number of mistakes too! Through this lesson, students will learn to pick up from where they fall, and become a stronger chess player
Puzzle Rush
Help students to improve their calculation to find the right moves faster and achieve an eagle-like tactical eye in a competition way.
Chess Trivia
It is always good to know some histories about the game, ex-world champions famous quotes, and work ethics that will have a big impact on a child’s view and attitude towards this team game.
Midweek Ice Breaker
A weekly fun theme to help students in their learning with a fun game. Bonding creativity to ensure students have a memorable camp with bonding activities.

Positional/Strategical Planning

In a chess game, it is not all about tactics. You must also know how to play positional and strategical to solidify your structure.  This lesson focus on how to build out your fortress and strengthen your position, as well as exploiting your opponent’s weaknesses.

Coding
Splitted into 2 different levels. Beginner will focus more on STEM coding to build up their logical reasoning, understand the basics of conditions, controls, variables, data types, logical  arithmetical operators., and writing their own simple games or animation.  Higher level logical reasoning will depend on students assessment to be sent out a few days prior to the class. It would cover fundamental programming concepts with a language majority of students are familiar with. At the end of the 8 weeks cycle, student would be able to write a simple program with input/output/displa
